Land Transfer Tax

I do not support the imposition of additional land transfer taxes on Toronto home buyers. Transfer taxes are already in place, and increasing them at the proposed rate will hurt most the people who can least afford them. Young people saving for their first home, new Canadians working hard to build a future in Canada, working class Torontonians with a dream of home ownership will all be hurt by these excessive taxes.

We should be encouraging people to become home owners by making it more affordable, not driving them out of the market by putting home ownership out of reach for working people.

I will continue to speak out against, and vote against, these unfair taxes.
